Albert Gubern-Mérida is a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Radiology and Nuclear Medicine of the Radboud University Medical Center. Within the Diagnostic Image Analysis Group, the main goal of his research is to develop a computer-aided detection system that makes reading of digital breast tomosynthesis more effective in screening practice. His research interests also include automatic detection of breast cancer and segmentation of anatomical structures in other imaging modalities of the breast, such as full-field digital mammography, Magnetic Resonance Imaging and 3D whole breast ultrasound.
Albert received a Master's degree in Computer Science Engineering in 2009 and a Master's degree in Automation, Computation and Systems in 2010 from the University of Girona (UdG). In April 2015, he completed his joint PhD in the Diagnostic Image Analysis Group and in the VICOROB group (UdG). His thesis entitled Automated Analysis of Magnetic Resonance Imaging of the Breast. Since September 2016, he combines his work at DIAG with his position at ScreenPoint Medical, a company developing image analysis technology for automated reading of mammograms and digital breast tomosynthesis.
