Mark van Grinsven studied Biomedical Engineering at the Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e). His master thesis was entitled "Automated tracking and segmentation of vascular trees" and the research was carried out with Philips Healthcare. In July 2011, he started as a PhD student on Computer-Aided Diagnosis of Retinal Images, supervised by Clarisa Sánchez.
