Monthly DIAG News – Oktober 2026

DIAG at conferences

At ECP 2026 in Stockholm, CPG’s Sebastiaan Ram and Sander Moonemans, together with colleagues Jeroen van der Laak, Frédérique Meeuwsen, Francesco Ciompi, Katrien Grünberg, and Hao Chen, hosted an interactive session exploring generative AI and autonomous agents in pathology. Demonstrating three prototypes; an information retrieval assistant, an interactive resident tutor, and an autonomous task agent, the team sparked critical discussions around clinical accuracy, verification overhead, and clinician deskilling. Live polling revealed a large shift in favour of the educational tutor, highlighting strong demand for tools that foster critical diagnostic reasoning rather than replacing it. These insights reinforce that building trustworthy clinical AI requires continuous, direct alignment with practicing clinicians.
