Judith Lefkes receives Christine Mohrmann Stipend

Judith Lefkes has been awarded a Christine Mohrmann Stipend from Radboud University. The stipend is awarded annually to promising female PhD candidates and encourages them to continue their academic careers after completing their PhD.

Judith’s research focuses on moving from narrowly specialized AI algorithms toward broader, more generally applicable models trained on diverse data, including pathology and radiology images and clinical reports. As part of a collaborative project (UNICORN), she developed a transparent and reproducible benchmark platform that was launched as an international challenge, allowing teams to evaluate their algorithms on clinically relevant tasks using real-world patient cohorts.

In her current work, Judith develops and evaluates AI models for the automatic generation of pathology reports. She also designs clinically grounded evaluation metrics to assess the quality of AI-generated reports.

With the stipend, Judith will spend six months conducting research at Harvard Medical School.
