Marlie Besouw started her academic career in Maastricht with the Bachelor of Medicine. After two years, she decided to delve deeper into the technical aspects by starting her bachelor in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Twente. After obtaining her bachelor’s degree, she started her master Medical Engineering at the Technical University of Eindhoven. For her master thesis, she worked on the validation of an AI model in a multi-center study at the radiotherapy department of the Catharina Hospital in Eindhoven. After completing this thesis in 2024, she joined the Diagnostic Image Analysis Group at the Medical Imaging Department of Radboudumc as a PhD candidate to work on the project Validation and implementation of commercially available AI solutions in healthcare. During her PhD trajectory, she is supervised by Bram van Ginneken, Steven Schalekamp, Maarten de Rooij and Matthieu Rutten.
