Monthly DIAG News – April 2026
DIAG at conferences
At the beginning of March, a large group of DIAG members has been present at the European Congress of Radiology in Vienna. Besides presentations and posters by several DIAG members, the beautiful city of Vienna was explored. Furthermore, the Research Presentation Award was awarded for "Validation of AI-Assisted RECIST Lesion Measurements in Follow-Up CT: A Multi-Center Reader Study" M. J. J. De Grauw, R. Weber, M. Westphal, T.Lossau, J. H. Moltz, B. Van Ginneken, M. Prokop, E. J. Smit, A. Hering !

Later that month, the group of Alessa Hering attended the German Conference on Medical Image Computing in Lübeck and combined the meeting with a group retreat. Two oral presentations were given by DIAG members: jan-tagschere presented EvalBlocks, a modular pipeline for rapid evaluation of foundation models in medical imaging, and Luc Builtjes presented the llm_extractinator framework for clinical information extraction with open-source large language models in resource-constrained settings. In addition, many group members contributed to the poster sessions.
Both frameworks are publicly available through the DIAG GitHub, reflecting the group’s commitment to open and reproducible research.
