Alessa Hering is an Assistant Professor at Diagnostic Image Analysis Group and a senior scientist at Fraunhofer MEVIS. Her current research focuses on efficient and accurate tumor follow-up assessment using deep learning. Furthermore, she is interested in the development of deep-learning-based image registration methods.

Alessa studied Computational Life Science at the University of L├╝beck, Germany. She worked as a research scientist at Fraunhofer MEVIS while doing her PhD as an external PhD candidate in the Diagnostic Image Analysis Group under supervision of Bram van Ginneken. Her Phd focused on deep-learning-based image registration and tumor follow-up analysis.

Alessa is a member of the MIDL board and president of the MICCAI Special Interest Group in Biomedical Image Registration SIG-BIR. Furthermore, she is the (co-) organizer of the Learn2Reg challenge and the MICCAI workshop on Lesion Evaluation and Follow-Up Assessment.
