Alonso Cerrato Nieto
PhD Candidate
Alonso Cerrato Nieto is a PhD Candidate in the Diagnostic Image Analysis Group (DIAG) at the Medical Imaging department of Radboud University Medical Center. In January 2024, he joined MERAI lab, an ICAI Lab between the partners Radboudumc and MeVis Medical Solutions working under the guidance of Mathias Prokop and Colin Jacobs. His research focuses on accurate lung cancer diagnosis and staging using AI-based detection and quantification.
Before joining MERAI lab, Alonso obtained his master's degree in Computer Vision in Rey Juan Carlos University in Madrid. His master's thesis focused on the analysis of information using chest CT scans of patients diagnosed with COVID-19. After that, he moved to the Netherlands to work in a startup as an AI Specialist.
