Jos Thannhauser (1989) is an Assistant Professor within the departments of Medical Imaging and Cardiology of the Radboudumc. His research group, part of the Diagnostic Image Analysis Group, focuses on artificial intelligence based solutions in the field of cardiology. Since 2023, Jos is manager of the Cardiology lab with Abbott, Radboudumc and Amsterdam UMC (CARA Lab), a research collaboration between academic and industrial partners, focusing on automated analysis of optical coherence tomography (OCT) images during cardiac catheterization procedures. The CARA lab is part of the innovation center for artificial intelligence (ICAI).
Jos studied Technical Medicine at the University of Twente. After graduating his master's degree in 2015, he worked at the Department of Cardiology of the Radboudumc, where he performed clinical research and managed several clinical trials in the field of cardiac rhythm disorders and devices. In 2021, he finished his PhD entitled "Technical Innovations in Out-of-Hospital Cardiac Arrest: On the Road to a Smart Defibrillator". After his PhD, he was involved in multiple research projects as a postdoctoral researcher (Radboudumc, University of Twente, Radboud University). His main areas of interest are cardiovascular (electro)physiology, cardiac imaging, signal analysis and artificial intelligence.
