Rick Volleberg (1996) is a medical doctor and PhD candidate in the Department of Cardiology at the Radboudumc. He obtained his Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Medicine with distinction at the Radboud University. Rick has been actively involved in several research projects conducted by the cardiology department throughout his study.

As of January 2021, Rick works as a PhD candidate under supervision of prof. dr. Niels van Royen and prof. dr. Mathias Prokop. His research is centered on the identification of high-risk coronary plaques using intracoronary optical coherence tomography (OCT) and automated analyses of OCT images through deep learning. Rick is part of the Cardiology lab with Abbott, Radboudumc and Amsterdam UMC (CARA lab) for the latter objective.
